FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's tennis team improved its record to 2-7 after defeating Fairmont State by a score of 5-4, Tuesday.
The Bobcats were able to sweep the three doubles matches which enabled them to pull out the close match despite dropping four of the six singles matches. The sophomore tandem of Kayla Kirk and Kaitlin Lemmert were able to capture an 8-6 win in the No. 1 doubles match, while senior Amber Beckman and freshman Kennedy Logsdon pulled out a tight 9-7 win in the No. 2 doubles match. The freshman duo of Sara Hildebrand and Ashley Smith took the No. 3 doubles match by a score of 8-3.
Lemmert and Smith were the only Bobcats to pick up two victories. Lemmert won 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 singles match, while Smith took No. 6 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2.
