GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Anna Gomerez captured four top-five finishes and the Frostburg State women's track & field team registered a total of 17 top-five marks at the Mason-Dixon Invitational at Gettysburg, Saturday.
Final ResultsGomerez took home third in the long jump (4.81 meters) and third in the 100-meter dash (13.40). She also added fourth in the 200-meter dash (27.44) and fourth in the triple jump (9.70 meters).
Sophomore Russia Tatum and freshman Tiffany Cancel each posted two top-five efforts. Tatum finished runner-up in both the 100-meter (13.60) and 200-meter dash (28.48), while Cancel was second in the discus throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 36.75 meters. She was fourth in the hammer throw (34.00 meters).
Freshman Laurie Gotte captured the team's second runner-up finish in the 10,000-meter run (49:33.98).
Freshman Alexis DeVault was third in the 5,000-meter run (20:50.12), freshman Casi Chisholm took third in the hammer throw (34.05 meters) and junior Christina Smith was third in the javelin (26.86).
Adding fourth place finishes were junior Gabbi Maher and freshman Amy Virostek. Maher was fourth in the 5,000-meter run (21:06.61), while Virostek was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:12.69).
As a team, Frostburg registered 111 points and finished in third place behind Gettysburg (227 pts.) and Hood (154).
The Bobcats return to action next Saturday at the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg.
