Bobcats Finish Second Day of F&M Invitational

LANCASTER, Pa. – After the second day of the 2014 Franklin & Marshall College Invitational, the Frostburg State men's swimming team is in ninth place while the women's swimming is 12th.

Freshman Christian March qualified for two individual events Saturday while senior Jon Shepard joined March in the 200-yard breaststroke final. March finished 12th in the 50-yard freestyle with a quick time of 22.20. In the 200-yard breaststroke, March captured the Bobcats' highest finish so far of the invitational with a sixth-place time of 2:11.10 in his first time competing in the event for FSU this season. Shepard came in right after March with a seventh-place finish after touching the wall at 2:13.09.

Shepard and March joined freshmen James Williams and Marquell Proctor to post a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.10. Senior Jeffery Page, sophomore Alek Combs and freshmen Deionn Yarberough and Darnell Hungerford finished out the evening for Frostburg with an 18th-place time in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:50.49.

On the women's side, junior Kait Donch picked up the only finals qualifying time for Bobcats with a time of 2:33.22 in the preliminary heat of the 200-yard breaststroke. Donch finished 10th in the finals heat after shaving less than a second off the preliminary time touching the wall at 2:32.49.

Donch, along with senior Sara King, junior Maci Quintanilla and freshman Macey Nitchie finished 16th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.41.

The Bobcats return to the pool tomorrow to finish out the F&M invitational and their 2014 half of their schedule. The preliminary heats are scheduled for 9:00 am while the finals will go off at 5:00 pm.
