Men Third, Women Fifth After First Day of CAC Track & Field Championships

SALISBURY, Md. – The Frostburg State University men’s and women’s track & field teams combined for seven top-five finishes on the first day of the Capital Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday.

The Bobcat men sit in third place after day one with all seven of the top-five finishes. Host Salisbury is currently in first with 60 points, while Mary Washington is in second with 53. FSU is nine points behind UMW with 44.

Junior Trey Davis powered the Bobcats with a victory in the hammer throw at 44.69 meters. Senior Christian Smith took third in the event at 41.88 meters.

Freshman Michael Cronauer grabbed a pair of top-five marks. He was third in the triple jump in 12.97 meters and tied teammate Chris Rickell for fourth in the high jump at 1.85 meters.

Sophomores Devin Francillon and Seth Stine also earned third-place finishes. Francillon took home third in the pole vault at 3.35 meters, while Stine was third in the javelin with a distance of 50.42 meters.

Freshman Tyler Cheng finished in fourth place in the pole vault at 3.05 meters.

The Bobcat women sit in fifth place after the first day of CAC Championship competition.

Freshman Casi Chisholm earned sixth place in the hammer throw at 31.32 meters, while sophomore Christina Smith took home seventh in the javelin throw at 29.19 meters.

Both FSU squads return to action tomorrow for the second day of the CAC Championships at 10:00 am.
