FROSTBURG Md. – The Frostburg State University men’s and women’s swimming teams both suffered defeat to York (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.

Despite losing 120-59, FSU’s men were able to snag a couple first and second place spots.
Senior Caleb Stair came through for his team earning the first victory of the afternoon with a time of 1:03.36 in the 100-meter butterfly.
Junior Jesse Gregory and Stair were later able to gain a better footing against York as Stair secured second place in the 50-meter freestyle, and Gregory took second place in the 200-meter IM.
In the meet’s final individual event the Bobcats captured first and second place. In the 100-meter breaststroke, freshman Jonathan Shepard earned a win in 1:12.15, while sophomore Brian Sentz took second in 1:39.69.
The men were able to pull in one last win in the meet’s final event, the 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.72
The FSU women fell to York 110-78.
Despite the loss, the women’s team still put up a good fight as they locked in a handful of first and second place finishes.
Freshman Kathryn Lydon slipped ahead of York for a win in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:25.11, and freshman Kaitlyn Donch followed up with another first place finish in the 400-meter freestyle.
As the meet neared the end freshman Maci Quintanilla fought for second place, and was able to beat out junior Jenny Hinkle’s time of 1:19.93 by just 3.65.
FSU finished second in the 100-meter freestyle as well thanks to Sara King’s time of 1:10.20.
As the women came to the end of the meet Donch and Jaclyn Franzak pulled in first and second place at 1:24.19 and 1:46.71 in the 100-meter breaststroke.
The FSU women ended the afternoon with a victory in the 200-meter freestyle relay (2:04.92).
FSU’s swimming teams are set to compete against Hollins at Frostburg this coming Friday, January 25 at 4:00 pm.
