FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State field hockey team fell to Capital Athletic Conference opponent St. Mary's (Md.), 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.

The Seahawks (5-6, 3-1) controlled play for the majority of the match but did not strike until freshman Paige Decker deflected in a shot from sophomore Claire Kortyna past Bobcat keeper Maggie Edwards at 28:42. Edwards made six saves in the opening half to help keep the Bobcats (4-10, 1-3) only down a goal headed into the halftime intermission.
St. Mary's sophomore Rachel Heiss added an insurance tally on a shot from the right side at 54:41 to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead. Edwards made 11 more saves in the second half on 15 total Seahawk shots. St. Mary's outshot the Bobcats, 15-1, in the second half and 26-8 for the contest.
Senior Chelsea Smith and junior Rachel Merritt led the Bobcats with three shots apiece. Junior Heather Gray and sophomore Tiffany Weshler each had a defensive save for Frostburg.
Frostburg ventures out of CAC play on Tuesday when it hosts St. Vincent at 5:00 p.m.
