Field Hockey Falls to No. 6 Ranked Salisbury on Senior Day

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State University field hockey team lost to sixth-ranked Salisbury, 11-1, Saturday on senior day.

Three players found the net twice as SU improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the CAC. Meanwhile, FSU falls to 3-16 and 1-6 in its final regular season game at Bobcat Stadium this season.

The Sea Gulls (12-2, 6-0) fired off a barrage of shots in the first half and found the net seven times. SU attempted 21 shots and received 10 penalty corners.

Courtney Webster and Alison Bloodsworth each scored two goals in the first half. Webster knocked home the game’s first goal at 2:13 off a pass from the end line. Her second goal of the stanza gave the Sea Gulls a 4-0 lead at 18:11.

Bloodsworth scored the finals two goals of the first half at 32:14 and again at 33:01. SU’s Erica Henderson added a goal and an assist in the first half as well.

The Bobcats opened the scoring in the second stanza and narrowed the gap to 7-1. Freshman Linzy Martin (King George, Va./Chopticon)found the net from the left side of the cage off an assist from senior Breanne Russell (Clements, Md./Chopticon).

Salisbury scored four goals over the remainder of the half, including two from Danielle Lehman.

The Sea Gull finished with a 38-6 edge in shots and a 12-7 advantage in penalty corners.

FSU sophomore keeper Maggie Edwards (Lebanon, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) recorded 18 saves, including 10 in the second half.

The Bobcats close out their regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at Washington & Jefferson at 7:00 pm.
