FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State women's tennis team was defeated by non-conference opponent Fairmont State 5-4 on Monday afternoon to hand the Bobcats their first loss at home this season.
FSU dropped its overall record to 10-3.
Freshman
Megan Martin (Richmond, Va./Mills Goodwin) led the Bobcats with two match wins on the afternoon. Martin and doubles partner senior
Caroline Shedd (Middletown, Md. / Middletown) defeated Katie Prather and Goldie Preston 8-1 in the No. 1 doubles match to give the Bobcats their only win in doubles competition on the afternoon.
In the No. 1 singles match, freshman
Elly Dannenfelser (Joppa, Md./John Carroll) defeated Katie Prather 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 for her only win on the day. Martin won the No. 4 singles match by defeating Heather Gurash 6-3, 6-1 for her second win of the day. Senior
Monie Cuddahee (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) defeated Lisa Smith (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 6 singles match finish the day for FSU.
