YORK, Pa. – Freshman
Amanda Kerstetter (Galena, Md./Bohemia Manor) netted her second goal of the season with just over 11 minutes left in the game to lift the Frostburg State field hockey team to a 3-2 win over York (Pa.), Saturday afternoon.
The win improves the Bobcat's record to 14-3 on the season and gives the team a six-game winning streak. The loss drops the York (Pa.) Spartans to 8-12 on the season and gives YC its fifth one-goal loss this year.
Freshman
Brandi Mixell (Fort Littleton, Pa./Forbes Road) put FSU on the board early as she scored on a rebound off the Spartan goalie for the quick 1-0 lead.
York (Pa.) responded just eight minutes later when April McFarland beat the FSU defense to knot the game at 1-1 on an assist from Allison Roush.
The Frostburg State attack again stepped up as sophomore
Brooke Tapman (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) scored on a long shot that beat YC keeper Claire Rekitzke just three minutes before the break. Rekitzke recorded four saves in the first half and six for the game.
The Spartans again tied the game at the 43:24 mark as they came out firing after the half and Roush found the net herself as she poked the ball into the goal from infront of the cage.
Kerstetter finally put the game away as she shot high over top of Rekitzke to set the final score at 3-2.
Throughout the game both offenses had impressive runs to keep the opposing defense on their heels, both teams finished the afternoon with 15 shots.

Samantha Foland (Myersville, Md./Middletown) recorded three saves in the contest.
Frostburg State is back on the field as they take on Wesley at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 26 at Bobcat Stadium
