BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - The finalists for the 2025-26 Mountain East Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year are set, the Mountain East Conference announced Wednesday.
Graduate Doug Pruim II will be Frostburg State's Male nominee, having garnered several All-American accolades while leading the Football team to a spot in the Super Region I Championship game. Pruim was selected as a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American, while also being named to the Associated Press and Don Hansen Football All-American Teams.Â
Joining him as a finalist on the Female side will be sophomore Genna Rippeon, who led the Women's Swimming team to their fifth consecutive MEC Championship. Rippeon was named the GMAC/MEC Swimmer of the Meet as the leading scorer among all athletes while also earning MEC Women's Swimmer of the Year honors.Â
The award winners will be announced on Monday, June 29 following a vote of the administrators in the Mountain East Conference and the league office.
