FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team defeated Davis & Elkins 5-2 in their home match on Wednesday.

FSU was dominant to begin the day in doubles play, as seniors Julia Ramos and Alyssa Kush along with juniors Patricia Castejon and Ximena Ku took 6-0 wins at Nos. 1 and 2. Juniors Claudia Coombes and Ella Troxell completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 decision at No. 3. Â

In singles play, the Bobcats took each of the first three spots, with Castejon (6-1, 6-4) and Kush (6-3, 6-0) earning sweeps, while Ramos had a dramatic 1-6, 7-6, 6-4 comeback victory. Coombes closed things out with a comfortable 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5, while the Senators had sweeps at Nos. 4 and 6 for the 5-2 final.

With the win, Frostburg improves to 10-8 on the year, while Davis & Elkins falls to 4-8. FSU next will host West Virginia State on Friday, April 17 at 3 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
