BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - Junior John Smith was named the MEC Baseball Pitcher of the Week, presented by The Health Plan. 

Smith earned a win in both of his appearances on the mound for FSU in the week. He entered as a reliever in the team's 3-2 win over No. 19 Seton Hill, throwing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts. He followed with a complete-game victory over Wheeling, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out three batters.
