FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team saw their MEC Tournament come to a close with a 254.475-249.420 loss to two seed Glenville State on Saturday evening.

Starting out in the Compulsory Event, the teams could hardly be separated, as GSU narrowly held a 36.375-36.175 advantage following the four heats. The Pioneers had the two highest event scores in the Pyramid (9.725) and the Toss (9.775) while FSU won the Acro (9.05) and Tumbling (8.175) heats.

Glenville began to grow their lead out in the Acro Event, winning 28.65-27.425, although both sides had all three heats score over a 9.0. GSU took another event win in the Pyramid at 29.525-28.85, as the Open heat produced the highest scores for each team at 9.925 and 9.85. Headed into halftime, the Pioneers led 94.55-92.45.

As had been the theme so far of the meet, Glenville secured a 27.875-27.25 win in the Toss Event, however Frostburg produced the highest heat score with a 9.675 in the Open. The Tumbling Event saw the furthest gap open up so far, as GSU won 52.15-48.90, putting scores of 9.45 in the Aerial and 9.75 in the Open. The Bobcats did outstanding in each of their individual passes, as freshman Nayramis Rodriguez-Lugo scored a 9.075 out of a possible 9.25, sophomore Bailey Miniefield had an 8.35 / 8.60, and freshman Ani Sabounjian scored 8.25 / 8.60.

With the meet coming down to the Team Event, FSU secured their first victory of the day at 80.820-79.90, however their final score wouldn't be enough to overcome the Pioneers' lead with the final standing at 254.475-249.420.

With the loss, Frostburg ends their campaign at 6-3, while Glenville advances to the Championship meet at 7-2. FSU still will have a chance to bring home some hardware during Sunday's Event Finals, which are set to begin at 12 p.m. information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
