BLOOMBSBURG, Pa. – The Frostburg State Women's Team won on the road against Bloomsburg 5-2 on Saturday to pick up their first victory of the Spring season.
FSU began the meet strong, with seniors Julia Ramos and Alyssa Kush winning 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, while BU would take No. 2 doubles 6-3. The Bobcats were able to secure the doubles point with juniors Ella Troxell and Claudia Coombes taking the No. 3 match 6-2.
Frostburg would continue their momentum into singles play, with Ramos picking up a win at No.1 singles 7-5, 6-2. Junior Patricia Castejon (6-1, 6-0) and Kush (6-2, 6-0) would each cruise to straight-set wins at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, as did Coombes (6-1, 6-0) at the sixth spot to put the meet result away. BU salvaged a point at the fourth spot, while junior Ximena Ku would have a close match, just falling shy 4-6, 6-4, 10-12 at No. 2 for the 5-2 final.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 3-2 on the year, while Bloomsburg falls to 5-1. FSU will next travel to Morgan State on Saturday, March 7, for an 11:30 AM start in Baltimore, MD. For more information, visit frostburgsports.com
