FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team defeated Millersville 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon in their home meet.

FSU started out strong in doubles play, taking each of the three matches without dropping more than three sets. Seniors Julia Ramos and Alyssa Kush took a 6-3 win at the top spot, with juniors Ximena Ku and Patricia Castejon winning 6-1 while classmates Claudia Coombes and Ella Troxell earned a 6-2 decision at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

The Bobcats continued their momentum into singles play, as Castejon (6-0, 6-0), Kush (6-1, 6-3), and Coombes (6-2, 6-0) all cruised to straight-set wins. Ramos battled to a 7-5 first set victory before a more comfortable 6-2 score in set two to win at No. 1. Both Ku (6-4, 4-6, 2-6) and Troxell (6-3, 1-6, 10-8) put up fights in three-set losses, ensuring that each player won a set on the day.

With the win, Frostburg improves to 5-5 on the year, while Millersville drops to 1-4. Due to a postponement of FSU's next match against Davis & Elkins, the Bobcats' will be back on the court Tuesday, March 17 with a road match against Hampton at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
