FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's wrestling team dropped their home dual against Eastern in a close 24-22 decision.
 
Eastern got on the board first, taking the 103 matchup by an early pinfall, however the score evened up after an Eagle forfeit at 110. Freshman Morgan Layman picked up the lone bout victory of the night for FSU, taking a technical fall at 12-2 for a 10-9 advantage in the meet. 

EU brought the eighth-ranked wrestler in the country into the 124 bout, earning an 11-0 tech fall, but again were put behind due to a forfeit at 131 for a 14-10 score. Eastern then strung together a pair of decision wins either side of another fall over the next three weights, putting them ahead 21-16. With an Eagle forfeit at 180, the match came down to the 207-weight class to decide the dual, even at 21-21. Senior Samira Stephens put up an early fight through the first period, however a couple of late takedowns allowed her opponent to earn a 9-4 decision for the 24-22 match final. 
 
With the loss the Bobcats finish their duals season with an 8-6 record, while EU improves to 6-4. FSU will next host the Bobcat Open on Saturday, February 7 with matches set to begin at 10 a.m. For more information please visit frostburgsports.com.
