FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's wrestling team fell at home to West Liberty by a final score of 29-10. 

After preliminary exhibition matches to start off the day, the dual between the Bobcats and Hilltoppers would start with the 174 bout. Junior Duncan Kammar would get a takedown to go ahead in the first period before being able to tie things at 4-4 with an escape before falling behind on another takedown. WLU would eventually take control en route to a 15-5 major decision. Sophomore Andrew Wolfanger would have a tight match at 184, going back and forth before giving up a late takedown to just lose out 9-8 and put the Hilltoppers up 7-0. 

West Liberty would then secure a pinfall at 197, as junior Gavin Bage would hit the mat at 285 with the Bobcats down 13-0 and needing to get on the board. The heavyweight match went scoreless though the first period, then Bage selected neutral to start the third down a point after giving up an escape in the second. He would get a big takedown in securing the 4-2 decision, also picking up the riding time point. WLU would swiftly quell the momentum with their second pin of the night at 125. 

The Bobcats second victory would come from freshman Tanner Halling in the 133 match, narrowly getting an 8-7 decision. He fell behind by three after a wild scramble would end in a Hilltopper takedown, however fought back to take two of his own in the match to eventually win. WLU then responded with a 5-0 decision at 141 before junior Gage Heilbrun earned FSU's most team points on the night, winning the 149 match by a 13-3 major decision. West Liberty took each of the next two bouts by a major decision and decision to take the meet with a 29-10 final.

With the loss, Frostburg is now 6-5 on the season while the Hilltoppers improve to 8-5 in duals. Both teams now will prepare for the Mountain East Conference Championships, to be held at Glenville State on Sautrday, January 31. For more information please visit frostburgsports.com.
