WEST HAVEN, CT – The Frostburg State women's rugby stayed unbeaten on the road against New Haven on Sunday, earning 55-34 conference victory.

Frostburg played its third straight road game of the season, going all the way to Connecticut to face off with the Chargers in an important NIRA matchup.Â

FSU started off scoring in the match with a try from junior LaJess Jordan and a made conversion by sophomore Natalie Allen. Frostburg added to its lead 10 minutes later with a try from Allen, putting the score at 12-0. NHU would get on the board with a try midway through the half, making things 12-5. The pace of play would pick up quickly, as first the Bobcats scored a try from freshman Isabella Sage that was answered by a New Haven try and conversion. With the game now at 17-12 FSU, Sage would add another try only to be answered by the Chargers to make the score at half 22-17.

New Haven would quickly tie things up coming out of half time, but FSU responded in dominant fashion. Sophomore Scout Spadoni would come up with a try just three minutes later, reclaiming the lead with a conversion made by Allen. Within a 17-minute spell, senior Camryn Wyatt, Spadoni, Jordan and sophomore MK Wilmot would all score tries, while Allen made three of four conversions to increase the Bobcat lead to 55-22. With just 20 minutes remaining, NHU scored a pair of tries with one conversion, but the Frostburg damage had been done, with the final score reading 55-34.Â
Jordan, Sage and Spadoni all had two tries apiece, with Allen accounting for 15 points overall, including going 5-of-9 on conversions.
With the win, Frostburg moves to 3-0 on the season, while New Haven drops to 0-3. FSU will next play Bowdoin on Saturday, September 27Â in Princeton, NJ at 2:30 PM. For more information please visit frostburgsports.com.
