GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Frostburg State women's rugby team lost on the road to Davenport on Saturday morning by a final score of 58-5.
 
It took less than six minutes for DU to find their offensive rhythm, going for a pair of tries with one conversion for a 12-0 lead. FSU had possessions that they weren't able to take advantage of, as 10 minutes later, the Panthers extended the advantage out to 19. The final 20 minutes of the half were controlled by Davenport, as on two occasions, they had a pair of quick-fire tries, growing the lead to 36-0 at the break.
 
The first 10 minutes of the second frame featured back-and-forth possession, with DU once again being the first to score a try. The Bobcats got deep into Panther territory but couldn't punch in a score, as another 10 minutes later, the hosts added another score at 46-0. As the half wore down, two more Davenport tries put their lead up to 58-0, then in extra time, FSU was able to get on the scoreboard, working the ball around the right side and getting through for a try to make the final score 58-5.
 
With the loss, Frostburg drops to 1-1 on the year, while Davenport improves to 3-0. FSU will return home on Saturday, September 26 to face Princeton at 10 a.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
