Nebiolo, 800 Free Relay Break Program Records as WSWIM Moves Into Third at Champs

CANTON, Ohio – ­­­The Frostburg State Women's Swim team moved up a spot in the overall standings on day three of the GMAC/MEC Championships, taking First Team All-MEC honors in each race.
 
Freshman Genna Rippeon got things started by placing third overall in the 500 free (5:07.43), beating out fourth place by .27 seconds. Also in the event, freshman Taylor Emrich swam a personal best 5:18.33, good enough for sixth in program history, while senior Amanda Soustek did the same in 5:23.57, putting her ninth all-time. In the 100 back, senior Lydia Nebiolo was the lone Mountain East swimmer to qualify for the A final, where she took seventh overall at 58.89, breaking her own program record set in 2023.
 
The Bobcats showed out in style during the 100 breast and 200 fly, earning First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention All-MEC honors in each event. During the former, senior Natasha Paciello took third overall at 1:06.14, setting a PR as the second-fastest in program history, with freshman Madison Hooper joining her in the A final and placing seventh (1:07.92, third all-time), while senior Meaghan Keegan won the B final in 1:09.48, placing her sixth on the record boards. In the latter event, senior Kendall Hooper tacked on another third-place finish in 2:08.16, as it was all FSU representing the MEC in the A final, with sophomores Alexis Ramsey (2:13.84) and Morgan Greenlee (2:15.95) earning seventh and eighth, respectively, the former setting a new personal high and moving into second in school history.
 
Frostburg closed out the day by smashing past the school 800 free relay record, as Nebiolo, Emrich, Rippeon, and sophomore Jayme Meadows put up a 7:50.48 for third overall and over four seconds faster than the previous high mark.
 
In a fight for third place with Findlay and Hillsdale taking the top two spots, FSU trailed Ashland by nearly 40 points but surged ahead of the Eagles to set up a 717-693.5 advantage headed to the final day.
