YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sophomore Bella Mastria led the Frostburg State Women's Track & Field team at the Youngstown Last Chance indoor meet on Friday.
The Bobcats had a strong showing with four top three finishes and several personal records broken. Leading the charge for FSU was Mastria, who took first in the long jump with a leap of 5.54 meters, setting the new program top mark, beating out Alexis Bush's mark of 5.49m in 2015. She followed up with a seventh-place PR in the 60m hurdles at 9.78, which is good enough for ninth on the FSU indoor list. Rounding off her individual day, she also placed second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.91, her best mark so far this season.
Joining her in the sprints, junior Valerie Boards placed second overall and top among Division II runners in the 200m with a season-best time of 25.20. In the 400m, sophomore Lucy Crowe (1:01.60) and freshman Gwen Bates (1:11.75) both ran personal highs, with the latter setting another (31.06) in the 200 alongside freshman Erin Collins (27.83). With their final event of the day, Mastria, Crowe, Collins and Boards took second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:11.98.
In the distance events, sophomore Hannah Schauman (19:13.00) and senior Chelsea Montau (20:46.00) each set personal bests in the 5k, with sophomores Clare Woodring (13:50.31) setting one in the 3k and Jazmine Pinon (2:42.12) in the 800m. Closing out the meet in the throws, freshman Sydney Johnson set a PR in the shot put at 10.33m with a top-10 spot.
