FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team split their season-opening tri-meet with Wheeling and West Virginia Wesleyan, losing to the former 145-113 while defeating the latter 206-27.

FSU kicked off the meet strong, taking the 200m medley relay in 1:49.60 with the team of juniors Tory Reynolds and Dylan King, senior Andrew Wetherhold, and freshman Sean Filipovits. The same foursome also took second in the 200m free relay at 1:41.12.

Filipovits went on to win the 100m backstroke at 1:01.02 and the 100m free in 55.84, with freshman Jack McCullough (1:04.06) placing third in the former event and Reynolds (56.60) taking second in the latter.

McCullough earned a victory of his own in the 200m back at 2:18.73, followed immediately by freshman Bliss Hays in second at 2:24.73. King took first in the 100m fly at 59.30, followed immediately with a 2:22.74 second place in the 200m IM. Sophomore Bradin Norris took the final win of the day for Frostburg in the 200m fly at 2:19.10, as Hays again was second at 2:20.89.

With the split, FSU begins the year at 1-1 and will next travel to Davis & Elkins on Saturday, October 18 at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
