BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – For the first time this season, senior top/tumbler Abbie Baker was named MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Athlete of the Week, as the award was announced on Monday by the league office and is presented by The Health Plan.

Baker helped lead Frostburg to their first win over a ranked opponent this season, defeating No. 9 Hawaii Pacific at home on Saturday by a final of 266.970-258.035, where the Bobcats scored their highest finish of the season. In addition to the team event, Baker competed in five other events including all four compulsory heats, the 5-element and 7-element acro heats, all three pyramid heats, the synch and open toss, and the duo pass and open pass in the tumbling event.Â

To start the meet, Baker led FSU to take the lead after the compulsory heat, outscoring the Sharks in the acro, pyramid, and toss heats with scores of 9.55, 9.7, and 9.9. Frostburg and Baker put up terrific scores of 9.65 and 9.55 in the 5-element and 7-element, while going for a fantastic 9.8, 9.75, and 9.85 in the pyramid. Two more high scores came in the synch and open toss with finishes of 9.55 and 9.6, as Baker concluded with a 9.75 out of 10 in the open pass.
