FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State Athletics will be taking a preview of each team competing in the spring season, covering nine total sports.  Over the next couple weeks, each team will be broken down into their matchups, key players, and overall outlook for their season and program.  To kick off the second week is Acrobatics & Tumbling.
 
Overall
Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling enters their fourth-ever season as the No. 6-ranked team in the preseason NCATA poll. Head Coach Katie Nunley, who has led the program since its inaugural season, continues to grow the program to new heights with a pair of new assistant coaches in Edonnya Alvarez and Sophia Del Greco, as Hannah Krumpach returns for another year on the staff. 
 
Last Season
The Bobcats finished 10-3 last season with an undefeated 5-0 record in conference meets, taking their first-ever MEC Regular Season Championship and Tournament Championship.  Nunley led FSU to their first ever NCATA appearance, where the team entered as the No. 7 seed and won an individual national championship in the open pyramid event.  Frostburg also put up the team's highest meet score in history, with a 273.510 overall score against No. 1 ranked Baylor.  The Bobcats racked up the awards in 2023, with Isabella Mongelluzzo, Abbie Baker, Laiken Spahr, and Navah Marierose all earning First Team All-MEC, and Kaitlin Bolton being named Second Team All-MEC and an NCATA Academic All-American.  Mongelluzzo went on to be named MEC Freshman of the Year while being named NCATA Freshman of the Week twice, as Baker was recognized as MEC Athlete of the Year, receiving MEC Athlete of the Week six times.  Baker also went on to be named the program's first-ever NCATA All-American.  Nunley was named MEC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year, while also being named NCATA Coach of the Year.       
 
The Returners
Nunley welcomes back a large majority of last year's roster, with 23 athletes returning.  Baker, Bolton, Marierose, and Spahr all return for their senior seasons, alongside fellow seniors Alexis Palmieri, Sydney Green, Virginia Krasznay, Shelby Recktenwald, and Jordanne Hensley, all who have played important roles in the program's success.  Other key roles will be played by juniors Nia Ivanov and Natalie Anders, and sophomores Marion Pastore and Eleanor Ohngren, all who look to be featured throughout this season. 
 
The Newcomers
Nunley added four new freshmen to the team in top/tumblers Caelyn Blocher and Julia Welch, as well as base Cailtin Perry and top/base Joanna Welch. 
 
Kick Off to the Season
FSU will have seven meets this year, kicking off their season on the road Saturday, February 10 at 1 PM against Notre Dame College.  The Bobcats will then return home to host three meets against Gannon, Glenville State, and Hawaii Pacific.  To finish out the regular season, Frostburg will travel to West Liberty, return home to host Fairmont State, and go on the road once again to face West Virginia State.  The MEC Championships will be held Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.
