BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Senior base/tumbler Laiken Spahr was named Acrobatics & Tumbling Athlete of the Week, as the award was announced on Monday by the league office and presented by The Health Plan.
Spahr and the Bobcats opened their season with a solid 259.545-233.685 win over MEC opponent Notre Dame College on Saturday. Spahr competed in six total events, in all four compulsory heats, the 5-element acro heat, both the synchronized and open pyramid heats, the synchronized toss, the aerial pass, and the team event. She led Frostburg to a 9.75 and 9.65 in the synchronized and open pyramids, respectively, both with a starting value of 10. She also helped score a 9.30 in the synchronized toss with a 9.90 starting value, as well as 9.225 score in the aerial pass in the tumbling event, with a starting value of 9.75. FSU went on to score an 89.82 in the team event to secure the meet victory.
