SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Frostburg State Women's Rugby program fell on the road to American International Sunday afternoon by a final score of 101-12.
Â
The Bobcats continue to work through a tough portion of the schedule where they have not had a home contest in nearly a month, while AIC came into the day with a pair of wins, putting up big numbers in them, scoring over 50 points in each game.Â
Â
The match got underway, and AIC took early command, scoring their first try of the day just under five minutes into play and swiftly pushed over 30 across the board. Frostburg moved up the field with 11:25 left in the first half, where junior Molly Wentling converted a try for the Bobcats to make things 31-5. Freshman Natalie Allen was unable to make the conversion on FSU's first score of the match, while the hosts put another 19 on the board before the half, leading 50-5.Â
Â
The second half played out similar to the first, with AIC controlling things and getting on the board early. Halfway through the second half the Bobcats freshman Scout Spadoni picked up a try, from which Allen was able to make the conversion to make the game 70-12. That would be the last points scored for the Bobcats, with the final score being 101-12.Â
Â
Frostburg moves to 2-3 on the year after the loss, while American International improves to 3-1. FSU will face off against Newberry on the road Saturday, October 12. For more information visit frostburgsports.com.Â
