FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's rugby team forfeited to Mount St. Mary's in its home opener, with the final score being 28-0 due to organization rules.
The Bobcats came into the game with a depleted roster, still attempting to get back to full strength, while the Mount was looking to break a two-match losing streak.
FSU began the match with 13 starting players, the minimum needed in the traditional 15 v 15 lineups. Frostburg made it to halftime with MSM holding a lead, but didn't have the necessary players required to start the second half, resulting in the overall forfeit of the match. With each team wanting to continue playing, the Mount agreed to play down and eventually the game moved to 15 minutes of a 10 v 10 match, from which the visitors emerged victorious.
With the result FSU is now 3-2 while the Mount is now 3-2-1. Frostburg will next host Davenport on Saturday, October 18 for a 10 AM start in an important NIRA conference matchup. For more information please visit frostburgsports.com
