INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in the championships.
Junior Omokemi Balogun was selected as a participant in the triple jump, an event where she set the Frostburg State program record and was the top performer in the entire Atlantic Region at 12.34 meters. In the qualifying list, she currently ranks 14th in all of Division II, with 20 total athletes selected for the event. She was the outdoor Mountain East Conference champion in the triple jump and the only athlete in the Atlantic Region to qualify.Â
Balogun becomes the first FSU athlete to qualify for Division II Nationals, and the first athlete selected overall since former standout Kayla Truesdel qualified for the Division III 100 meters in 2018. The qualification gives her a chance to become Frostburg's first track & field All-American since J.R. Lowery placed second nationally in the shot put in 2017.Â
