FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Tennis Team defeated West Chester on senior day, pulling out a narrow 4-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.
Before the match, FSU honored their two seniors Mason Hordubay and Ben Williams as they wrap up their respecitve Bobcat careers.
The freshman duo of German Diaz and Cole Alcala captured the first doubles match of the day with a final score of 6-2. Junior Del Carden and sophomore Matt Bolen earned another victory for FSU, coming out on top in their match 6-1. Hordubay and freshman Noah Fisher fell just shy in their match, losing by a score of 7-6 as WCU avoided the doubles sweep.
Diaz tallied a point in singles play, winning his match with a 6-3, 6-0 score. Alcala (6-0, 6-1) and Bolen (6-4, 7-5) knotted two more wins for the Bobcats, helping FSU secure the 4-3 win.
With the victory, Frostburg moves to 4-8 on the year, while West Chester falls to 3-7. FSU will take on West Virginia Wesleyan on the road on Tuesday, April 4 with the MEC match set to begin at 4 PM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com
