BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced the individual award winners for the 2023 Acrobatics & Tumbling season, of which Frostburg won three of the four available awards.
Junior Abbie Baker was recognized as the Athlete of the Year, having won an astonishing six MEC Athlete of the Week awards. She helped the team average at least a 9.6 in seven events this year and was named the NCATA National Athlete of the Week on March 22.
Isabella Mongelluzzo was named Freshman of the Year in her first season with the program, making an immediate impact on the team. She has twice been named the NCATA Freshman of the Week while competing in several heats primarily as a base.
Katie Nunley repeats as the conference's Coach of the Year, having led the program to new heights in 2023. The team started the year ranked No. 12 by the NCATA and won its first seven meets, with three wins over ranked teams and the program's first-ever win over MEC rival Fairmont State. The team's performances were recognized by the NCATA, who has ranked the team No. 6 in each of its iterations of the national rankings since the preseason poll.
