Morrison Sets Pole Vault Record, 4x100 Relay, Balogun, Cottrill Record Wins

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's track & field program had a solid showing at the Jim Taylor Invite, with a program record falling and a pair of victories being recorded over the two-day meet. 
 
An FSU record was set by Eva Morrison in the pole vault at 3.40 meters, good enough for second in the event and breaking the previous record by almost a full half foot. 
 
The 4x100-meter relay team of freshmen Tristen Clark and Malaika Habib, sophomore Gabrielle Heard and freshman Valerie Boards took first in the event at a time of 49.75. The Bobcats' greatest challenger in the event was the other FSU entry, taking second place with a team of juniors Omokemi Balogun and Baby Jimerson, freshman Payton Arneson and junior Brianna Stevenson clocking right behind at 50.51.
 
The other first place finish for the Bobcats came from Balogun in the triple jump on a distance of 11.46 meters. To finish out a good day, she also took third in the long jump at 5.24 meters. Boards also had a solid showing, with a second place in the 100 meters (12.68) and the 200 meters (26.33). The 100 meters also saw a fourth and fifth place finish from Habib (13.03) and Heard (13.05), respectively. Freshman Jasmine Scott also came in fourth in the 200 meters at 26.63.
 
Junior Hannah Muir cracked the FSU career top five with a impressive showing in the 5000 meters, finishing at 18:24.99.
 
In the throwing events, freshman Addy Cottrill won the discus with a throw of 40.27m, while in the hammer throw, senior Makayla Westry earned fourth at 43.53m.
