Women's Tennis Defeats St. Ambrose in Convincing Fashion

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team defeated Saint Ambrose with a commanding score of 6-1 on Tuesday morning.

Frostburg swept the doubles competition with solid efforts from all duos. Sophomore Lorena Pintar and freshman Alyssa Kush defeated their opponents with a score of 6-3. Sophomores Mariaspa Kotsiou and Julia Ramos took their match in a 6-1 victory, then the team of senior Madison Toothman and sophomore Femke Hofkamp earned the third doubles match, getting the 6-2 win.

FSU continued their success in the singles competition, earning a total of five wins. Kush earned an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory while Pintar was just behind her in a 6-1, 6-0 win. Ramos earned a point of her own with a 6-1, 6-0 victory, while Kotsiou put up a 6-0, 6-2 win. Toothman earned herself a hard fought victory with a final score of 7-6, 7-5, then sophomore Sydney Goering put up solid effort in her singles match, getting the win in the second set but dropping the first and third.

With the victory, Frostburg moves to 5-6 on the year while St. Ambrose falls to 5-9. The Bobcats will have a quick turn around as they will stay in Hilton Head to face Millikin on Wednesday, March 21 with the match set to begin at 1 PM.
