Women's Tennis Sweeps Aside Bowie State in Road Match

BOWIE, Md. - The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team earned their second victory of the Spring with a clean 7-0 defeat of Bowie State on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats started the meet strong by winning all three doubles matches, with freshman Alyssa Kush and sophomore Lorena Pintar having to work hard in their 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Sophomores Mariaspa Kotsiou and Julia Ramos had an easier time in a 6-2 win, while sophomore Femke Hofkamp and senior Madison Toothman cruised to a 6-1 victory.

Kush (7-5, 1-6, 6-3) and Pintar (6-1, 1-6, 10-7) again both were forced into long matches in singles play, but each regained focus in their respective third sets to take their matches. Kotsiou (6-2, 7-5), Ramos (6-1, 6-1), and Toothman (6-2, 6-3) joined senior Immanuella Odiong (6-0, 6-0) in ensuring that FSU took every available victory on the day for the 7-0 result.

With the win, Frostburg improves to 4-4 on the year, while Bowie falls to 1-2. The Bobcats face a quick turnaround as they return home to take on West Liberty at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 16. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
