FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Tennis team lost their home match to District of Columbia by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The junior duo of Lorena Pintar and Julia Ramos Bentham posted the lone doubles win for FSU on the day, defeating their opponents with a dominant 6-1 score. Sophomore Alyssa Kush and freshman Lauren Ceballos fell just shy in their match  6-4, while junior Mariaspa Kotsiou and freshman Patricia Castejon dropped their match with a score of 6-3, giving the Firebirds the doubles point.
In singles play, Ramos earned a hard fought victory, taking her match 6-4, 5-7, 7-6. Ceballos tacked on another win for Frostburg, defeating her opponent in three sets as well, 3-6, 7-5, 10-6. Castejon put up a battle in her match, falling narrowly 7-5, 2-6, 5-10.
With the loss, FSU moves to 1-1 on the season, while UDC improves to 2-0. The Bobcats remain home to face D'Youville on Sunday, October 8 at 11 AM. For more information and updates, please visit frostburgsports.com.
