FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team recorded 14 total victories in their defeats of Wheeling and West Virginia Wesleyan on a Saturday tri-meet at Bobcat Natatorium.

FSU wasted no time getting ahead early, with the team of juniors Jackson Miller and Andy Creelman, sophomore Luka Smith, and freshman Andrew Wetherhold cruising to a win in the 200-meter medley relay at a time of 1:52.69.

Miller had one of the top days of any swimmer at the meet, going on to secure victories in both the 50-meter freestyle (25.59) and the 200-meter IM (2:18.11). In the 50 free, he was followed closely by sophomore Jaden Tipton in second at 26.21, while the 200 IM Canapp secured second (2:20.34) and junior Justin Geiszler earned third (2:29.92).

Canapp got his own victories in the 800-meter free (9:13.08) and the 400-meter free (4:28.55), as freshman Alex Whitton came runner-up in the 800 (9:48.28) and Frostburg went 1-2-3 in the 400 with Geiszler (4:34.20) and Tipton (4:35.02) rounding out the podium places.

Smith worked his way to a win in the 200-meter free (2:10.72), where finishing just behind in second was sophomore Sean O'Connor (2:11.60). Junior Noah Loper joined in on the winning fashion in the 100-meter backstroke (1:03.40) and the 200-meter back (2:20.40), as Creelman was close behind in the 100 back at 1:06.48.

In a bit of friendly competition, sophomore Tave Chanthavong and Wetherhold swapped 1-2 finishes in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke events, with the former winning the first and the latter taking the second. Sophomore Mikkel Leblanc (1:14.99) tacked on a third-place finish in the 100 breast to complete the FSU sweep.

Freshman Julian Najarro Sedar had an impressive pair of victories in the 100-meter free (54.63) and the 100-meter fly (1:00.40), where junior PJ Emrich finished second (1:02.74), then took a win in the 200-meter fly (2:23.48).

The day ended just as it started, with the team of Loper, Canapp, Miller, and Najarro Sedar winning the 400-meter free relay in 3:47.72, putting the team at 212 points, the most in a meet for the program since putting up 213 against Ferrum on October 27, 2017.

With the sweep, Frostburg improves to 4-2 on the year, while Wheeling falls to 0-7 and WVWC is now 2-3. FSU is back in the pool next Saturday, January 21 for another home meet against Salem (WV) set to begin at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted at frostburgsports.com.
