Acrobatics & Tumbling Starts Season at Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State acrobatics & tumbling team started the season on the road against the NCATA preseason eighth ranked Fairmont State University. The Bobcats fell in a very close meet by a score of 252.57 - 247.84.

 In the compulsory heat the Bobcats took the toss heat with a score of 9.25. Overall Frostburg would trail Fairmont at the end of the event by only 2.5 points. The next portion of the first half would be the acro event. The Bobcats excelled in the five and seven element events toping the Fighting Falcons in each. Frostburg continued the momentum into the pyramid event, taking 28.50 points from a possible 29.60. The Bobcats scored a 9.5 in all three heats and took the lead over the Falcons 86.85-86.30.

 In the toss event the Fighting Falcons came in slightly above the Bobcats 26.20-24.90. The tumbling event would earn the Bobcats 50.750 out of a possible 55.10. The best event for Frostburg being the six-element pass scoring 9.525 out of 9.8.

 The team event that encompasses all the skills from previous events would decide the day. In the end Fairmont would score slightly higher than the Bobcats and finish with a 4.73 lead overall. Frostburg State would fall to 0-1 on the season while Fairmont State improves to 1-0.
