FROSTBURG, Md.- Zachary Shattuck broke the American Paralympic record in the SM6 200-meter individual medley on his way to making the final of the event in his Paralympic Games debut.

In his first event at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Shattuck finished second in the third heat of qualifying with a record-breaking time of 2:49.50, ensuring his place in the event final. In the final, he finished in eighth place with a time of 2:52.52. Nelson Crispin Corzo from Colombia won the gold, setting a new world record with a time of 2:38.12.
