INSTITUTE, W. Va.- The Frostburg State men's tennis team picked up their first victory of the season, defeating West Virginia State 4-3. The women's team were swept 7-0 after picking up their first win on Friday.

On the women's side, the doubles pair of juniors Immanuella Odiong and Shea Przywieczerski won the most games of the FSU doubles matches, losing 6-2 to Abigail Wild and Maya Haidari. In singles matches, sophomores Rabiatu Ladan and Elizabeth Hixon, as well as Przywieczerski each won one game out of their two sets.

For the men, sophomore Mason Hordubay and senior Tim Goldring came away with the lone doubles victory, winning 6-1 over Nicholas Fraley and Dom Reyes. Frostburg dominated in the singles competition, picking up four victories. Senior Geoffrey Goldring got FSU started with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Reyes, followed up by Hordubay's 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 win over Ryan Wilkinson. Tim Goldring then defeated Fraley 6-1, 6-2 and first-year Origen Grear finished off the FSU win with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ryan Mullins.

The win is the first for the Bobcat men since a 7-0 win over Hood on March 7, 2020. FSU is back on the courts Tuesday, April 6 for a home meet against Salem University. Matches are set to start at 4 PM, for more information head to frostburgsports.com.
