BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday that Frostburg State junior swimmer Anthony Giuseppetti has been named the MEC Male Swimmer of the Week.
Giuseppetti broke four school records in Saturday's home meet against Notre Dame (OH). The junior broke individual records in the 50-meter backstroke (28.52) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:00.22). Both records had been held since 2000. Giuseppetti also set the school record in the 200 freestyle (1:57.77).
In the relays, Giuseppetti joined junior Sawyer Conklin, junior BRady Peterson and sophomore Luke Russell to capture another school mark in the 800 freestyle at 8:33.94.
On the season, the Frederick, Md. native has 11 individual wins and has helped his teammates to another 10 wins in relay events.
He currently ranks first in the MEC in the 200 backstroke (2:00.06) and is second in the 100 backstroke (53.73), 200 freestyle (1:44.71) and the 500 freestyle (4:53.74).
The Bobcats return to the pool next Wednesday, February 12 as they begin the GMAC/MEC Championships in Canton, Ohio.
