Giuseppetti Earns Second Team Honors In 500-Yard Freestyle

CANTON, Ohio – Frostburg junior Anthony Giuseppetti continued to nab All-MEC accolades in the GMAC/MEC Championships by finishing second amongst MEC swimmers in the 500-yard freestyle.
 
Giuseppetti finished fourth in the 24-person race at 4:44.25, highlighting the third day of the GMAC/MEC Championships for Frostburg State.
 
On the women's side, senior Megan Culbertson notched the squad's best finish of the day, finishing 19th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.17). Sophomore Haley Benedictis was close behind, finishing in a tie for 22nd with UNC-Pembroke's Victoria Brousseau (1:16.29).
 
Sophomore Gabby Thompson captured 23rd in the 200-yard butterfly (2:36.16) as well to wrap up FSU's women's individual races.
 
In the 800-yard freestyle, first-year Maya Wilson, Culbertson, Thompson, and sophomore Aubree Morris combined for a ninth-place finish (8:36.95).
 
On the men's side, junior Sawyer Conklin and first-year Myles Henderson finished behind Giuseppetti in the 500-yard freestyle at 12th (4:58.69) and 18th (5:08.53) respectively.
 
First-year Matthew Costa-Shell added a 21st-place showing in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.37), while in the 200-yard butterfly junior Brady Peterson notched 15th (2:05.33) and Henderson finished 18th (2:18.09) respectively.
 
Additionally, first-year James Harmon had a 17th place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.95), and junior teammate Jacob Tantalla touched the wall in 23rd place (1:04.66).
 
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Conklin, first-year Quincy Page, Henderson, and Peterson mustered an eighth-place finish (7:39.46)
 
After the penultimate day of the GMAC/MEC Championships, the women's team sits at 10th of 13 teams with 196.5 points, while the men are eighth out of nine squads at 382 points.
