FROSTBURG, MD. – Frostburg State women's tennis suffered a close loss to Penn State Altoona on Wednesday night, falling by a final score of 4-3.

A duo of first-years picked up their first career victories in singles play. No. 4 singles Rabiatu Ladan defeated Penn State Altoona's Sophia Girol 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6). No 6 singles Madison Toothman was the other Bobcat to claim their first collegiate victory, taking down Katie Kruza on Penn State Altoona 6-2, 6-1. Sophomore Ariana Zuzunaga competed in the No. 5 singles match and claimed victory over Grace Butz 6-2, 6-1.

No. 3 doubles sophomores Cherise Jenkins and Sabrina Tolbert scored the lone doubles match victory for Frostburg State. The pair defeated Grace Butz and Katie Kruza 6-4.

The Bobcats take the court again on Sunday when they hit the road to take on University of the District of Columbia at 1:00 p.m.
