HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Frostburg State women's outdoor track season kicked off on Saturday, March 23 at the Juniata College Invitational. The team collected 15 top-10 finishes, nine top-five finishes, seven top-three finishes and three wins in its first meet of the season.
 
Junior Keileen Estrada earned the victory in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 1:09.21, over a second faster than the second-place finisher. Estrada also finished third in the 100-meter hurdles event with a time of 17.47.
 
Sophomore Maddison Watson also earned a pair of top-five finishes, including a win in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:03.45. She placed fifth in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.79, just 0.03 seconds off of a podium finish.
 
First-year high-jumper Amy Trembly won her debut event, jumping a total of 1.40 meters.
 
Senior Holly Van Wie collected two top-three finishes and three top-five finishes in throwing events, coming in second in the hammer throw, third in the shot put and fourth in the discus throw. She finished the hammer throw with a 42.67 meters, she threw the shot put 9.54 meters and she tossed the discus 27.99 meters. Junior Keirstin Tawney placed sixth in both the discus throw and the hammer throw, posting 22.64 meters and 30.94 meters, respectively.
 
Junior distance runner Sarah McCurry finished third in her lone event, posting a 21:10.16 in the 5,000-meter run.
 
Juniors Taja Griffin and Sidonie Brown each placed in the top-10 in their events, as Griffin placed seventh in the 100-meter dash and Brown placed ninth in the 800-meter run. Griffin finished her event in 14.25, while Brown finished 2:43.65 in the 800-meter.
 
The next track meet on the Bobcats' schedule takes place on Saturday, March 30, at the Jim Taylor Invitational, hosted by Susquehanna University. For up-to-date meet information, visit frostburgsports.com.
