FSU Swimming Geared Up For ECACs

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's and women's swim teams will send 11 student-athletes to this year's Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships this weekend.
 
The Bobcats will send six men and five women to compete at ECACs, hosted by the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
 
As a team, the FSU men will compete in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard freestyle relay and 800-yard freestyle relay. The women will appear in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Luke Holloway will compete in the 50, 100 and 200-yard freestyle events. Holloway earned a pair of All-CAC honors with second-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (46.28) and the 50-yard freestyle (21.10). He posted FSU's top time this season in the 200-yard freestyle at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational (1:45.21). Holloway is set to appear in all four Bobcat relays.
 
Sophomore Anthony Giuseppetti will compete in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke, as well as the 500-yard freestyle. He appeared in the finals in the 500-yard free at CAC Championships with a season-best 4:52.22 in preliminaries. Giuseppetti placed seventh at CACs in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:58.07, and registered FSU's fastest 100-yard backstroke time of the season (53.31) at F&M. He is slated to swim in all four relays.
 
In the 100-yard butterfly, sophomore Brady Peterson (53.90) and first-year Cameron Edwards (54.94) both qualified with season-best times at the CAC Championships. Edwards is scheduled for the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 400-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay, while Peterson will swim in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
 
First-year Luke Russell will swim in the Bobcats' 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays and individually in the 50-yard freestyle. Russell narrowly missed out on a finals berth in the 50-yard freestyle at CACs, registering a season-best 22.02 in the swim-off.
 
First-year Adam Stein will compete in the 400-yard IM after posting a 4:22.66 at F&M. He'll join Frostburg's 800-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays.
 
On the women's side, Elizabeth DeMonte is set for the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, as well as the 100-yard butterfly. DeMonte set the Frostburg State record in the 100-yard butterfly at CAC (57.97) on her way to a third-place finish. She's also posted the Bobcats' top times in the 50 free (25.12) and 100 free (54.29) at CACs. DeMonte will appear for all three relays on the women's side at ECACs.
 
Senior Maddie Weinberger will swim in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events, as well as all three relays. She posted FSU's top times in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.92) and 200-yard beaststroke (2:25.36) at CACs.
 
Senior Emily Turner will compete in the 100-yard backstroke after finishing fifth at CACs with a season-best effort of 1:01.59. She'll handle the backstroke legs of both Bobcat medley relays.
 
First-year Aubree Morris will appear in all three relays, while junior Megan Culbertson rounds out the 200-yard freestyle relay. The Bobcats will look to improve on their record-setting 400-yard medley relay of 4:02.05, set at CACs.
