Swimming Wraps Up Randolph-Macon Invitational

ASHLAND, Va. – The Frostburg State swimming teams ended Sunday's festivities where they started, with the men finishing in sixth and the women ending up at 10th in the second day of the RMC Yellow Jacket Invitational.
 
For the day, the men added eight more top-10 finishes and the women posted nine top-20 finishes.
 
Sophomore Luke Russell led the way on the men's side, posting three top-10 finishes. Russell finished with the Bobcats' best finish on the day with sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.07), tied for seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (22.19), and joined the team of junior Anthony Giuseppetti, junior Brady Peterson, and senior Hunter McFalls in the 400-yard freestyle (3:21.09).
 
Giuseppetti also added an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.06), and junior Sawyer Conklin ended up taking ninth in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:35.47).
 
Giuseppetti ended up finishing the meet with seven top-10 finishes in all seven of his events, while Russell had six top-10 finishes.
 
The women hovered in the 14th-to-20th place finishes for day two. The women's best finish was thanks to the youthful efforts of first-year Rayna Cicen, first-year Maya Wilson, sophomore Gabrielle Thompson, and sophomore Aubree Morris in the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:02.19).
 
Cicen and Wilson added another top-20 finish each, with Cicen taking home 18th place in the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.17) and Wilson finishing 16th in the 1650-yard freestyle.
 
Junior Megan Hendershot had the most top-20 finishes for the women. She finished 18th in the 1650-yard freestyle (20:51.39), 19th in the 200-yard freestyle relay with junior Sarah Moneypenny, sophomore Sydney Coval, and senior Maria Russo (1:59.50), and 19th in the 400-yard freestyle relay with junior Taylor Stanback, Russo, and Moneypenny (4:26.33).
 
Coval added a 20th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle (21:14.31).
 
For the invitational, Cicen had six top-20 finishes, Wilson and sophomore Aubree Morris had five, Hendershot had four, and Coval had three.
