FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Frostburg State women's swimming team collected a win over Hollins on Friday night, while both the men's and women's team suffered defeats against Mary Washington.
The Bobcat women downed Hollins 156-74 and both the men (205-56) and women (174-75) fell to the host Eagles.
Frostburg totaled three wins and four runner-up finishes on the evening.
Senior Maddie Weinberger and junior Elizabeth Demonte each collected a win on the women's side.
Weinberger won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:30.85, took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.64) and finished third in the 100-yard IM (1:05.04).
Meanwhile, Demonte won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.26, breaking a school record that has been held by former National Champion Laura Schlegel since 1984.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Demonte, first-year Haley Benedictis, senior Emily Turner and first-year Aubree Morris finished second in 3:54.48.
Individually, Turner took third in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:10.84) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:21.68). Morris finished in third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:35.72) and Benedictis was third in the 50-yard freestyle (26.58).
Sophomore Luke Holloway led the Bobcat men with a win in the 100-yard freestyle (49.58) and a third-place showing in the 100-yard IM (57.27). Sophomore Anthony Giuseppetti finished runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:08.81 and junior Hunter McFalls was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.50.
McFalls, along with sophomore Sawyer Conklin, senior Spencer Korb and first-year Adam Stein capped the night with third place in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:41.25.
Individually, Sawyer was third in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:31.24, while Stein took third in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:46.72.
Frostburg returns to action tomorrow in Pittsburgh, Pa. for the Chatham Invitational at noon.
