Women’s Tennis Posts Big Win Over Bethany

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Frostburg State women's tennis team collected its second win of the fall season with an 8-1 victory over Bethany, Saturday.
 
The Bobcats improved their overall record to 2-1 after winning all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches.
 
The pairings of sophomore Jenna Lipinski/sophomore Kate Paylor, freshman Sophia Staggers/sophomore Sammi Turner and sophomore Allison Paul/sophomore Elizabeth Mott all collected their second doubles wins of the fall.
 
Lipinski and Paylor downed Kristian Schafbuch and Alyssa Smydo at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, while Staggers and Turner defeated Fran Capaldi and Emily Folk at No. 2, 8-3.
 
Paul and Mott picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles over Kearsten Revels and Dawson McHarg.
 
In singles action, Lipinski, Turner and Staggers picked up their second wins of the afternoon. Lipinski downed Smydo at No. 2, 6-0, 6-2, Turner defeated Folk at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0 and Staggers took down McHarg at No. 4, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Freshman Jenna Pase won No. 5 singles over Capaldi, 6-0, 6-0, while classmate Claudia Renshaw won No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1, over Revels.
 
The Bobcat women close out their fall campaign next Saturday at Penn State Altoona at 1:00 pm.
