FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State women's lacrosse freshman midfielder Nikki Hallikas has garnered yet another postseason award, as she was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Region Second Team.

Hallikas Named To All-CAC First Team

Hallikas was selected to the Second Team in the Chesapeake Region.

Hallikas had a stellar freshman season for the Bobcats, finishing the 2017 campaign ranked third in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in both points (76) and assists (36). She also ranked second in the league in draw controls (73) and fourth in shots (98).

Hallikas contributed 40 goals, 31 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers this season.

The Pasadena, Md. native was named to the All-CAC First team earlier this month. Hallikas registered a point in all 17 games, including a 10-point game (six goals, four assists) against Wesley on March 18. She began her college career with two goals and seven assists in a 21-4 win over Goucher on February 18.

Frostburg finished the 2017 season with a 6-11 overall record. The Bobcats led the CAC in assists (116) while the attack ranked fourth in goals scored (206).

The IWLCA has honored 256 student-athletes in Division III with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2017. These student-athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Friday, May 19. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American Banquet on Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md.
