FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's and women's swimming team had a strong showing in their home opener with both teams posting two wins each, Saturday night.

The Bobcat men collected wins over Ferrum (213-38) and Roanoke (194-59) and had their first loss of the season against Mary Washington (87-175), while the women posted wins over Ferrum (216-37) and Roanoke (154-108) and also took their first loss of the year to Mary Washington (96-176).
For the men, senior Christian March led the way with three wins. March recorded victories in the 50-meter breaststroke (29.99), 100-meter breaststroke (1:07.81) and the 50-meter butterfly (27.20). March broke his school record in the 50-meter breaststroke.
First-year Anthony Giuseppetti collected a first-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:05.35). Giuseppetti also finished second in the 200-meter IM (2:26.20) and third in the 100-meter IM (1:05.42). First-year Luke Holloway posted three third place finishes in the 50-meter (25.87), 100-meter (57.05) and 200-meter freestyle (2:07.51).
Sophomore Jacob Auerbach swam his way to a third place finish in the 50-meter backstroke in 30.67.
First-year Connor Gioffreda had an impressive night, swimming his way to three American Paralympic records. He set those records in the 200-meter freestyle (2:50.52), 400 freestyle (6:10.52) and the 100-meter butterfly (1:28.82).
The Bobcat men finished second in the 200-meter freestyle relay (1:43.44) with a team of March, first-year Scott Walton, Giuseppetti and Holloway, while the relay team of Auerbach, junior Gregory Thomas, first-years Brady Peterson and Cayden Abramowitz finished third in the 200-meter medley relay in 2:05.40.
For the women, senior Macey Nitchie swept her three events claiming first in the 50-meter (27.55), 100-meter (1:00.10) and the 200-meter freestyle (2:09.95). Nitchie broke her previous school record in the 200-meter freestyle by 2.52 seconds.
Junior Maddie Weinberger swam her way to a pair of wins in the 50-meter (34.92) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.49), along with a second-place finish in the 100-meter IM with a time of 1:11.12. Weinberger broke her previous school records in the 50-meter breaststroke and the 100-meter IM.
Sophomore Elizabeth Myers placed third in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:16.01.
The relay team of junior Emily Turner, Myers, Nitchie and Weinberger swam their way to a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay in 1:59.66.
The Bobcats travel to Washington, Pa. tomorrow as they compete against Alderson Broaddus and Washington and Jefferson at 1:00 pm.
