FROSTBURG, Md. – Washington College proved too much for the Frostburg State field hockey team as the Bobcats fell to the Shorewomen, 6-2, in the 2014 FSU Tournament Championship game, Sunday.
Box ScoreWC scored the game's first three goals and improved to 4-0 on the season. Meanwhile, the Bobcats slipped to 2-2 overall.
Sophomore Taylor Bowen found junior Alexandra Darrow for Frostburg's first goal in the 15
th minute that pulled the hosts to within 3-1.
The score remained the same until early in the second half when Jenn Miller scored for the third time and handed Washington a 4-1 lead less than two minutes into the second stanza.
Freshman Savannah Neubert scored her first collegiate goal at 38:27 as she redirected a ball past keeper Sadie Robertson to narrow the deficit to 4-2. Darrow was credited with her fourth assist of the season.
However, the Shorewomen tacked on two late goals to seal the win.
Bobcat keeper Jacqueline Gover made a career-best 13 saves in the loss.
The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Washington & Jefferson at 7:00 pm.
