Field Hockey Cruises In Shutout Win

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State posted its third-straight win on Wednesday with a 3-0 shutout of Bethany in non-conference field hockey action.

It was a balanced attack for the Bobcats as they improved their record to 5-4 overall with their third shutout of 2014. Bethany falls to 2-6 with its second-consecutive loss.
 
Three different players scored for Frostburg as it outshot the Bison 15-6. FSU led just 1-0 at half, but scored twice in the second and outshot BC 8-2. Juniors Taylor Bowen and Jacquelyn Nava each registered their first career goals in the victory.
 
Junior Alexandra Darrow attempted a shot at 6:12 that was redirected into the net by Bowen for a 1-0 advantage.
 
Just over 11 minutes into second-half play Darrow scored for the fourth-straight game, this time off an assist from Nava, for a 2-0 lead.
 
In the 60th minute, Bowen found Nava for an insurance goal and a 3-0 lead. In goal, sophomore Jacqueline Gover needed just two saves for the win.
 
Bethany's Taylor Solomon and Morgan Turner led the way with two shots each, while Tiffany McCary notched six saves.
 
Frostburg hosts Bridgewater this Sunday at 2:00 pm.
